June 6th 2008, Anaheim, CA, During the current 45th Design Automation Conference (DAC) taking place at Anaheim, CA, ACCIT-New Systems Research, a company specializing in parallel solutions for computationally-intensive EDA simulation engines, has revealed that it was able to enlist several Silicon Valley beta sites (including Tier-1 companies) for testing its new software-hardware parallelized full precision true analog simulation engine.
The company said it is achieving major performance improvements using AMD FireStream™ stream computing technology from AMD®. This technology is integrated with multi-core / multiprocessor explicit parallelism.
"At this Design Automation Conference , we are focusing on expanding our beta site base. We are at this stage quietly verifying our technology with real life circuits with a carefully selected small pool of Silicon Valley beta sites (including several Tier-1 companies). We are testing circuits ranging from very few transistors to 10s of millions." said Yasser Hanafy, CEO of ACCIT-New Systems Research. "We have our own added technology which we will be discussing after filing our patents. The idea is to speed up the whole simulation, not just parts of it. The convergence and number of iterations are fundamental to the overall speedup. "
"We were able to formulate the problem in a structure which can exploit the massive parallelism inherent in both SIMD stream computing and other multi-processor architectures" said Amr Bayoumi, CTO of ACCIT-New Systems Research. "Our technology is not limited to one form of parallelism. Our close cooperation with the Stream Computing Group at AMD has been instrumental in eliminating the traditional bottlenecks. In particular, we worked together to analyze the data load/unload overhead, which was successfully minimized. We finally arrived at optimal entry points for our computations.”
“We will be discussing our numbers after completion of the beta site feedback process. We are not using the typical 10x metrics which most companies automatically publish. Instead, we work with our beta sites on real problems", adds Amr Bayoumi.
About ACCIT-New Systems Research
ACCIT-New Systems Research is a total solution provider offering products/services in ultra fast EDA tools, together with customized reconfigurable, parallel, vector, or multi-core High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms.
Initial concept-demonstration product is an "analog simulator on parallel architectures", offered to selected customers. A primary business line is "software+hardware engines", plus code parallelization/acceleration services, for CAE/EDA companies. Customer's IP is protected, by using closed box interfaces. Problem-tailored system design services are also offered.
